Who was Dr Martin Luther King jr ???


I was doing a bit of googling and I realized that this Monday just gone 21/1/ 2013 was the 30th anniversary of the Martin Luther King Jr Public Holiday in the USA. It’s amazing to think that not too long ago the levels of racism towards people with darker skin was at that level where they didn’t have the same rights as Caucasian people.

Dr Martin Luther King Jr was the guy who made the world’s biggest impact with the fight for equality between races. He did this at a time where it was an extremely dangerous and lonely thing to stand up and scream for equality, but his fearlessness and courage inspired a nation.

During his brief life 1929-1968 he fathered 4 kids, had his house bombed, was jailed over 20 times, was stabbed in the chest, gave over 2500 speeches and wrote 5 books - not bad for a minister hey ;)

 Almost 45 years since his death and America has a black president, who knows what Barrack Obama would be doing today if it wasn’t for Dr King and his civil rights movement, I just wish Dr Martin Luther King Jr could have lived to see what he accomplished. In finishing I think it is highly appropriate to post the text of Dr King’s “I have a dream” speech, which is one of the greatest and most famous speeches of all time.

                                                 I HAVE A DREAM!!!!- Dr Martin Luther King Jr

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. So we have come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

In a sense we have come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds." But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. So we have come to cash this check -- a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice. We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quick sands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.


It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. Those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

But there is something that I must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.

We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. They have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone.

As we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied, as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating "For Whites Only". We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive.

Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed. Let us not wallow in the valley of despair.

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with a new meaning, "My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring."

And if America is to be a great nation this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!

Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado!

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California!

But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia!

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

Mens Fashion and how and why it is rapidly evolving!!!

Less than a decade ago the majority of men were more concerned with hard work, a good wife and kids and food on the table. The majority never worried about how their hair looks or what brands are in fashion (especially here in Australia), most men were happiest in a wife beater (singlet), a pair of super short rugby shorts with the cords hanging down the inner thigh from their leg hole. and a pair of thongs (footwear).

A decade on and men have changed dramatically, most have shied away from the hard labouring work and taken up desk jobs, not only this but their wardrobes have drastically changed aswell and the ladies are loving it BTW, so keep up the great work fellas!!!!  ;)

The modern man seems to have traded the wife beater singlet for the Armani shirt, rugby shorts for designer jeans and thongs for Italian designer leather shoes. It's a pretty impressive development in just 10 years if you ask me. There also seems like more and more men are becoming better groomed and ironically enough it seems to be fueled by the high standards of women these days - Thanks TV !!!! :'(

Men have been forced to up the ante in order to still be considered attractive to the female population, it seems like there are many women out there who are extremely picky and shooting way above their limit, and kudos to them!!!

I believe the competition for men to look better than one another is the obvious cause for their change in need for fashion sense and overall society is looking BLOODY FINE, if I do say so myself!!!!              

The fine ass chickas out there seem to be in the position of power when it comes to selecting sexual partners, they seem to be more and more of them letting themselves go!!! Careful ladies don't fall into that trap ;), (I can see it now they release a new TV series and instead of it being called Desperate Housewives it will be called Desperate Doritos :P )

Anyways it is now more important than ever for men to take care of themselves, don't get angry at the ladies for having standards fellas, they didn't make it this hard for us...... Hollywood has!!!!!
hahahaha So get in that gym get ripped, get your clothes tailored and give the ladies what they want guys!!!!

Did you miss me???I've been Learning SEO =(

Hey everyone I apologise..... Ok, Ok, I know I promised I would update my blog weekly and I understand this last 2 weeks has seen the composition of zero posts.

Im going to be working on multiple posts per week now so it's great news  for you as my readers, because you get to read more posts and I will be ensuring that I put the best quality material I can into each post from here on out and who knows you may even learn things =P

WHERE HAVE I BEEN THESE LAST TWO WEEKS???

I have been learning Search Engine Optimization(SEO) and also researching ways I can improve my blog for you guys as my readers. The truth is I hit a bit of a writing block these last 2 weeks and I wasn't sure if I could write any further posts that would have any sort of impact on your day. It's like I start writing and then amazingly the subject that I am writing about ends up sounding all philosophical and ending with a life message and I never wanted my blog to go down that path. This is the main reason why I took a couple of weeks off from writing my blog to concentrate solely on what it was that I wanted to share with you.

In these last few weeks I have come to the conclusion that I don't want to solely write about life and business, so next Sunday I will be launching my cocktail blog, (don't worry people I'll provide the link when on this blog when it's up and running.

WHAT WILL MY COCKTAIL BLOG BE ABOUT??

Cocktails, of course dummy =) !!!!! I'm a bartender in a nightclub and I figured it would be great to share recipes, methods of construction, the end product (picture) and a review on it's flavour and what sort of meals each cocktail would compliment.

Great idea right!!!!??? I know, I know it's going to be a fun blog to write and also for you guys to read, because EVERYONE loves a cocktail. So yeah keep your eyes peeled for that one, it's definantly going to be worth checking out.


SO WHAT DID I LEARN ABOUT SEO???

I learnt it's an absolute bitch of a project that is not only extremely confusing but also very frustrating and time consuming!!!!! Ok so i am supposed to post comments on hundreds of blogs that allow you to include backlinks to your website that are "dofollow"-(dofollow means that web crawlers follow the link back to your page to so you get a higher page ranking in Google). Bu they can't be any blogs they have to be blogs with high Google Page Rank. Easier said than done, after commenting on around five blogs I was already over it (five down a million more to go), it's extremely difficult to keep it up.

The best way to describe SEO is to relate it to meditating, you sit there trying to be still and not think but a million ideas and thoughts pop up in your head. I am finding that same effect is happening to me when I start SEOing Ill be commenting and then I start thinking about other thing smy business needs and run off to check that out. I guess it's a form of procrastination in a way, my mind trying avoid the mundane hahahaha.

So I've been working on not only SEOing but also my website (added a custom tee printing page in), but I have also been working on my social networking for my online site - jetjohnsontees.com-tee, mens and womens(unisex shirts and accessories)

So yeah that's my website if you click the link and check it out, you will see I have links to all my social networking sites and I have been working around the clock to build these up, in particular my twitter account which has been lying around for months without any followers....... In this 2 week gap I now have over 300 followers and it's quickly growing. I will be using my twitter account to offer limited edition discount codes for my online store.

THE REAL END OF THE WORLD??

Hi Everyone!!!

I would like to say congratulations to you all for surviving THE END OF THE WORLD hahahaha.
It's funny in all honesty I didn't even realize I had missed it until the day after the alleged disaster LOL. 

In all honesty folks I didn't know what to expect about the whole thing, I figured if the end came there's nothing we could do anyway so I guess I forgot all about it.

For centuries people have been predicting the end of the world and yet we are all still here why?? I believe the end of the world will be an eventual process, with greed and power fueling it all, as we see the major driving force of international trade and currency (AMERICA) falling into a financial abyss, it opens the world up for many different possibilities for the future and it's a scary thought if you think about how much of an impact America's currency has on most countries around the world. 

There is now the possibility a new country will become the major driving force behind global trade (we are yet to see who comes out on top), as it doesn't look very likely the Americans are very likely to recoup their 30 trillion dollar negative deficit anytime soon. Anyways it will be interesting to see whether or not they are going to take it lying down, I'm very very interested to see what happens now, as we all know when someone is in a position of power they almost never give it up without a fight and America has had the power for many many years, so this makes me a little curious as what will happen to America now and what they will do to save their economy.


ANYWAYS I don't believe that the world will ever suddenly end (if it did it would suck huge ass donkey balls), but the financial times in the near future may dictate whether or not countries will survive or whether they will economically perish and Australia seems like we will be one of the last standing which is great for us!!!!

So in closing I want you to realize that everything that is going on at the moment and future is relevant only if you choose it to be the centre of your life. There are many things beyond our control in this world and all you can do is deal with what you can and not worry about the rest.

Do whatever makes you happy, go to church, play sport, have fun and live your life. live it with respect for yourself and others and you'll have a good life and a strong soul.
